Chopta is a small hill station in Uttarakhand, part of the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s known as the “Mini Switzerland of India.
It’s a moderate trek, suitable for beginners with basic fitness. The trek from Chopta to Tungnath is around 3.5 km, and an additional 1.5 km to Chandrashila.
March to June and September to November are ideal. Snow lovers can also visit in winter (Dec–Feb), though Tungnath temple remains closed during snow season.
No, Tungnath Temple is open only from around April to November, depending on weather. In winter, the idol is shifted to Mukkumath village.
